Alcohol/Salicylate Intolerance?
As a child I was allergic to fruit juices, and I am also allergic to aspirin. I have noticed when I drink alcohol my face becomes flushed and red and my hands and feet being to swell and redden, usually lasting through the night and the entire next day and sometimes to the point where I cant make a fist. My doctor said I have an alcohol intolerance possibly due to something else that is in all the alcohols that I drink (usually wine, champagne, and flavored liquors make symptoms worse). So my question is, does this sound like an allergy or intolerance to salicylates, sulphites, or possibly something else that I am unaware of? And if so are there any alcohols that I can drink or should I avoid them all?
If it is salicylate intolerance you should be able to drink gin whiskey or vodka with no dramas as they have negligible levels of salicylates in them ….. if it was salicylate intolerance you wouldn’t be able to eat most fruit and vegies either… with the exception of peeled white potatoes, celery, limes, peeled pears, bananas …. as they have negligible levels of salicylates.
It would only sound like a salicylate intolerance or suphite intolerance if you were having trouble eating fruits and veg … fresh fruits and fresh green vegies.
Personally I think you should give the alcohol the boot mate….. your body is trying to tell you it can’t assimilate it …… toxicsludge is alcohol anyway.
