Spaghetti Bolognese without red wine?

Is there a substitute for the red wine in spag bol? ie balsamic vinegar, or worcestershire sauce?
or would just adding the stock be enough?

It is lovely with some red wine in the sauce, as it gives it an extra kick, but far from necessary. I don’t use stock cubes either as I find that using plenty of canned tomatoes and a large can of concentrated tomato suffices. It’s nice with plenty of dried basil and a pinch of dried thyme. If you do want to use red wine in your sauce another time, then just freeze left over red wine in ice cube trays and take out the quantity you need each time. Very useful for putting in a beef stew also for instance. I always freeze left over wine this way.
